Year in review: 2019 Cypress Houses

This year Cypress Magazine was invited into numerous beautiful homes over the course of the year, and we were not disappointed! Here is the list of this years’ glorious houses, along with the top three most viewed homes of 2019:

  1. November: Savannah Home

“Breathtaking might be a good starting point to describe the view from the Pierce House in Savannah.  We were lucky enough to be able to interview Chris and Brandy Pierce and take photos of their beautiful home on the Tennessee River near Savannah.”

2. March/April: The 231-Year-Old Treasure

“On Wilkinsville Road, in Millington, Tennessee, there is a cheery house that has been sitting there for 116 years.”

3. October: A (Modest) Home: Green Living is the Life for Me!

“Just outside of the Meeman Shelby Forest State, Denton Pearson has built his dream home. “We don't call this a tiny house. We call it a modest home.””

January/February: Remodel or Build?

“So many decisions...so many options...how will we ever decide? When you are looking at the newest colors, styles, elements, and choices, it really does matter. You will be looking at those choices for a while.”

May: The Home of Mr. Banks

“Born and raised in Brownsville, Tennessee, Michael Banks had a dream; he wanted an old house, but not just any old one would do.”

June/July: More Than A Home

“A house is sometimes more than just a home. Sometimes, it’s the history of an area or family. It can be in a style from a bygone era or be full of meaningful antiques. Home is where the people are. A house is where the history is.”

August/September: The Moran House

“Built in 1895 by JW Moran for his wife, Sophia Reilly Gunn, this home had a tragic start.”

December: The Cypress Christmas House

“It's true… they just don't make them like they used to. In 1908, when Charles Reed Barbee had his own mansion built on the edge of Ripley, TN, he probably never considered whether that home would still be around over 100 years later.”
