Taste of Arlington

Taste of Arlington 2019 was held on Sunday, April 7, 5-7 pm at Arlington High School in the Rotunda.

This year's event promised to be 'bigger and better,' and it was! With Over 400 people attending the tasting event in Arlington last year, the Arlington Chamber looked at an even bigger crowd this year. "It's a great event, people have fun and learn a little more about the restaurant options in our area."

More than 20 food vendors participated in the event last year, which also included a silent auction offered by the Arlington APTA, an information booth by the Sam T. Wilson Public Library, and a booth with Shepherd's Haven folks featuring their handmade crafts. This year, there was a little more of everything!

Before the event, the chamber explained that “We are expecting at least twenty, and are in the process of confirming food vendors, Shepherd’s Haven will be back and the Silent Auction will be presented by the Northeast Shelby Co., Kiwanis Club.” Tonia Howell, director of the Arlington Chamber explained that Taste of Arlington “Is a large fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club, and for their programs in our area of the county.”

Generally every year, there is a new food vendor, sometimes it convinces people to locate in Arlington!  Pink Flamingo came and set up, then moved to the Depot Square, Olympic had a booth last year before they even opened their restaurant. The categories for the competition are Best Dessert, Overall Best, and Best Booth Design. This year’s winners were Crave for “Best Dessert.” “Overall Best” went to Pink Flamingo, and “Best Booth Design” went to the Arlington Kroger.
